Buhl Highway District

Established November 1912

The Buhl Highway District is one of four highway districts serving Twin Falls County, Idaho. Each district is a political subdivision of the State of Idaho and a special-purpose district, independent of the state, city, or county governments. The authority and responsibilities of highway districts are outlined in Idaho Code Title 40, Chapter 13.

The Buhl Highway District is responsible for maintaining approximately 267 miles of rural roadways, including bridges, culverts, and associated signage within its boundaries. The District does not have jurisdiction over roads within the City of Buhl or the City of Castleford.

The District is divided into three sub-districts, each represented by an elected Commissioner. The District employs eight staff members dedicated to maintaining and improving the rural road network.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

BUHL HIGHWAY DISTRICT
REQUEST TO VACATE AND ABANDON PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Commissioners of the Buhl Highway District will hold a public hearing, in accordance with the provisions of Idaho Code ยง 40-203, to consider the vacation and abandonment of the following public right-of-way:

All of Sand Hill Road, also known as Chessmore Drive, is located within Clear Lakes Estates, in Section 1, Township 9 South, Range 14 East of the Boise Meridian, Twin Falls County, State of Idaho.

The public hearing will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., at the Buhl Highway District Office, 1500 West Main Street, Buhl, Idaho. The purpose of the hearing is to receive testimony and evidence regarding the petition to vacate and abandon the above-described public right-of-way. All interested persons are invited to attend the hearing and will be given an opportunity to testify and present evidence.

Written comments may be submitted to the Buhl Highway District and must be received no later than March 16, 2026, to be included in the record. Written comments received prior to the hearing will be read into the record by the Chairman.
